During one of LODP’s past European tours Willi and Maria Opitz, along with their daughter Angela were special guests at a private and very exclusive celebration held in the Golden “Fiesta Hall” of the prestigious Vienna Rathaus in Austria.
In the course of this formal gala dinner LODP performed a powerful and elegant routine which moved the audience to an extended standing ovation and loud calls for an encore performance.
At the conclusion of the evening an astonished Mr. Opitz introduced himself to the artists telling them that he believed such a world-class presentation deserved a world-class wine to accompany it and that he wanted to produce wines exclusively for LODP.
Soon after, LODP visited the OPITZ winery and learned of Mr. Opitz’s passion for producing a world-class product as well as his sterling reputation among Europe’s finest Vintners. His motto “Life is too short to waste on bad wine” has translated into a very special and unique partnership with the artists and the production of several spectacular wines as a complement to their art.

About WILLI OPITZ
WILLI OPITZ has been acclaimed as the Late Harvest Winemaker of the Year in London. Using a traditional method, his beautiful 17 hectare vineyard produces grapes which draw their vitality from the composition of a remarkable volcanic soil that is surrounded by the Neusiedlersee Lake national park in the Illmitz, Burgenland region, south east of Vienna, Austria.
Mr. Opitz is the inventor of the “Schilfmandl Process”. His extraordinary grapes are harvested exclusively by hand up to five times in the same vineyard. These grapes are then stored on reed mats for six months before being gently pressed in small wooden baskets handed down from Mr. Opitz’s grandfather.
The finality gives outrageous and unique wines; such as LODP's exquisite SUMMIT & BLOOM wines, bringing immense vitality and a tremendous wealth of flavors.
The final result is a spectacular collection of unique and delicious wines, several of which now bear the LODP label including the incomparable Summit and Bloom wines. OPITZ wines have been enjoyed and acclaimed by some of the most successful and discriminating celebrities in the world including former US. President Bill Clinton. They have also been sourced by leading corporations for their guests or for sale to their customers. These include West McLaren Mercedes Formula One, British Airways (First Class Service), the world-famous department store Harrods of London and the ultra-exclusive Dubai Ski Club.
